Natural Phenomenon : Light Pillar

Assalamu'alaikum guys, welcome back to my blog. In this blog, I will tell you about my new favorite natural phenomenon that I think most of you guys had no idea what it is about. So here we go.

LIGHT PILLAR

Most of you probably don’t know what light pillar is, so let me introduce you to this unique natural phenomenon.

A light pillar is an atmospheric optical phenomenon in which a vertical beam of light appears to extend above and/or below a light source. The effect is created by the reflection of light from tiny ice crystals that are suspended in the atmosphere or that comprise high-altitude clouds (e.g. cirrostratus or cirrus clouds).

Do you get it? Well here is my second time explanation.

To make you more understand, a light pillar is a vertical streak of light appears from above or below light source. This happens when a light source reflects off the surfaces of millions of falling ice crystals associated with thin, high-level clouds.

Now, you know what a light pillar is, but what is the difference between light pillar and sun pillar?

If the light comes from the Sun (usually when it is near or even below the horizon), the phenomenon is called a sun pillar or solar pillar. Light pillars can also be caused by the Moon or terrestrial sources, such as streetlights. Interesting right?

Well I guess that all for today's blog. I hope you enjoy and more educated after reading my blog. Thank you, Wassalamu'alaikum Wr. Wb.
